Substance Use in Missouri

According to the Department of Mental Health, an estimated 377,000 individuals in Missouri (ages 12 and older) had a substance use disorder diagnosis in 2018-19.

We believe that Missourians in and seeking recovery deserve access to the highest quality care.

And, while there is no one-size-fits-all approach to recovery, we believe peer workers can play a critical role in the process. Peer workers have proven to increase engagement in treatment and recovery programming and better outcomes, overall.

NPRA-MO Advocacy Initiatives

1. Increasing access to recovery support services through a 10% set-aside in the substance abuse prevention and treatment (SAPT) block grant for dedicated funding

2. Including individuals with lived experience when making decisions around the use of opioid settlement funds

3. Ensuring parity among all substance use disorders
